Seil Kim Tenor
After beginning his studies at the Seoul Higher School of Arts, Seil Kim continued his training in Rome at the Accademia Santa Cecilia and then in Geneva with Gilles Cachemaille. After spending some time at the Opernstudio in Biel under Hans Peter Blochwitz, he enrolled at the Zurich University of the Arts with Scot Weir. He has also benefited from the advice of Eric Tappy, Nicolai Gedda and Thomas Quasthoff.He has won a number of prizes, including Second Prize in the Maria Callas Competition in 2005, two Prix Migros awards, First Prize in the Kiwani Competition and Third Prize in Thomas Quashoff's 2009 Das Lied Song Competition held in Berlin .He is a regular soloist, particularly in oratorios, and has performed the role of the Evangelist in St. Matthew's Passion in Zurich, as well as in works such as Carmina Burana in Brig, The Messiah in Willisau, Elijah in Zug and Haydn's Stabat Mater in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
His has also appeared in operas such as Capriccio by Strauss (Italian tenor) and in Don Pasquale by Donizetti (Ernesto) in Bielefeld, Germany.
He is scheduled to make his operatic debut in Seoul as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni for Korean National Opera in 2014.
